| The
Board of Directors that serves for The Children’s School
at Saint John’s consists of five members of various backgrounds.
At the annual meeting a board of five Directors shall be appointed
for a term of three years. Two Directors shall be appointed by
Saint Joseph’s University and two directors shall be appointed
by the Church of Saint John’s of Lower Merion and the four
Directors, once appointed shall elect a fifth Director. If the
office of Directors becomes vacant for any reason, the entity
which appointed that Director originally will appoint a successor
who shall hold office for the unexpired term and until his successor
is elected and qualified.
Meetings of the Directors shall be held at the school, or at such
other places as the Board may determine. Each director shall be
entitled to one vote in person or by proxy.
PRESIDENT: Margot Adams
has over 20 years experience in the field of early childhood education,
including administrative and teaching experience. She has a M.Ed.
from Beaver College and a BSW from Temple University with a major
in Child Development. Margot was the founding Director at The
Children’s School at Saint John’s until March 2004
and continues to be involved in the school today by researching
grants and other funding sources. Margot is also a part-time Adjunct
Instructor at Chestnut Hill College. She is also the mother of
Joseph who recently turned one year old in March. Term

TREASURER: Jim Brown
is in his third year as Assistant Vice President for Athletic
Affairs at Saint Joseph’s University, after spending three
years as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Affairs. He
is a 1976 graduate of Saint Joseph’s University who brings
to his alma mater a strong background in athletic administration
at both the collegiate and professional levels. Before arriving
at Saint Joseph’s, Jim began his career as the athletic
business manager at Villanova University in 1980. He was promoted
to Assistant Athletic Director in 1986. Jim left Villanova in
1987 for the position of Director of Finance/controller of the
Philadelphia 76ers. After five years with the 76ers, Jim took
the position of Assistant Athletic Director at Temple University
in 1992 and served as Temple’s Acting Director of Athletics.
Following that interim position, he was promoted to Associate
Athletic Director, adding the supervision of the department’s
marketing and ticket office operation to his responsibilities.
His last year at temple, Jim served as Associate Athletic Director
for Development. Term Ends: June 2006
SECRETARY: Missy Shaffer is a
senior attorney in Aetna’s Inc.’s Law and Regulatory
Affairs Department. Missy specializes in health law. During her
twelve-year career with Aetna, Missy has held a number of senior
legal positions. She currently manages development and delivery
of Aetna’s health insurance products and has significant
contact with state insurance commissioners. Missy is a member
of the Pennsylvania Bar and an active member of the American Health
Lawyers Association. Prior is joining Aetna, Missy served as The
Deputy Director of the New Jersey Governor’s office in Washington
D.C. and as a Legislative Assistant for the United States Representative
Frank J. Guarini, who sat on the House Ways & Means Committee.
She is a graduate of Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University
of America is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania. She graduated from Jacksonville University in 1980
with a degree in Political Science. Missy resides in Bala Cynwyd
with her husband, Ben Barnett and their daughter Anabel Shaffer
Barnett, who is currently enrolled in the Pre-Kindergarten class
at the Children’s School at Saint John’s. Term

MEMBERS:
Lori Sweeney is an employee of Saint Joseph’s University
in the Sports Medicine Department. She received her Doctor of
Philosophy in Kinesiology from Temple University in 2000. She
is also an adjunct professor at Neumann College where she teaches
the prevention of athletic injuries and functional anatomy. She
is also a clinical supervisor for athletic trainers in a NATA
curriculum at Temple University as well as at Neumann College.
Lori is also certified in the National Athletic Trainers’
Association, Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer, American Red Cross
and First Aid and Automatic External Defibrillator. She also holds
a NJ teacher’s certificate in Physical Education and Health,
K-12. Lori is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’
Association, Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, Pennsylvania
Athletic Trainers’ Society and College Athletic Trainers’
Society. Lori has also had professional publications and has done
research and lectures in Head Injuries in Sport, Bracing and Strapping
in Athletics, Sports Medicine and the Adolescent Athlete and Dehydration
symptoms of delayed muscle soreness. Lori also has a nephew, Zachary
(4) who is our Pre-Kindergarten room. Term Ends: June

Barbara Powell has been working in the
business community for over 20 years, presently with Thomas Register
as an administrative assistant in their Narberth sales office.
Barbara’s two sons and a daughter are parents of her 8 grandchildren,
two of whom (Christopher and Jake Henry) are graduates of The
Children’s School at St. John’s! The children’s
school years found me participating in bake sales, fairs, Home
and School Association committees. In the community, I’ve
worked in the political arena during various campaigns registering
voters, knocking on doors, and making phone calls. Currently,
her main activities have been at St. John’s Church where
she serve as acolyte, am a member of Altar Guild and have coordinated
the formation of The Lower Merion Child Transfer Center in cooperation
with The Children’s School. The Lower Merion-Narberth area
has been home to her for more than 30 years. I am a graduate of
Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA Term Ends: June 30,

Cindy McMullen is a member of St. John’s
Church. She is originally from Northeast Philadelphia. She recently
moved to Bala Cynwyd from Glenside and became a member of the
Church. She had met her husband while working as a Respiratory
Therapist. Cindy and her family moved to Bala Cynwyd so that she
could be closer to her step daughters, Morgan, who is 11 and Galen,
who is 9. Shortly after the birth for daughter Gwen, Cindy had
decided to be a “stay at home mom.” Cindy also has
2 daughters of her own who are Rebecca, age 9 and Gwen, age 4.

Lynne Constable is the director of a NAEYC
accredited preschool and early intervention childcare program
at Elwyn Development Center in Elwyn, PA. She received her Bachelor’s
of Science Degree from Temple University. At Elwyn, she is responsible
for screening, evaluating, and treating infants, preschoolers,
school children and adults with physical disabilities. In addition,
she writes and implements IEP’s and IFSP’s for the
therapy programs. She provides consultation services for a therapeutic
riding program for children with a variety of disabilities. Lynne
also a participates in the DVAEYC’s Directors Management
Seminar, Voices of Delaware Counties Children, Delaware County
Advisory Committee, and Early Intervention Provider Association.
