Business Hall Student-Faculty Reception.  Wednesday, September 19 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.  Mandeville Faculty Dining Room.  This annual catered reception is a wonderful opportunity for students on the Business Halls to meet one another (freshmen and upperclassmen), student leaders in business clubs/organizations and faculty in the Haub School of Business.  Dress:  Business Casual.

Life as a Pharmaceutical Representative.  Thursday, September 20 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  LaFarge Lounge.  Presented by Saint Joseph's alumnus Mylik Ganey '00.  Drawing upon his field experience as a professional representative for Merck & Co, Inc., as a Neuroscience Specialist with Novartis Pharmaceuticals and as a professional sales specialist with Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Ganey will talk with Pharmaceutical Marketing students from the Business Hall about the industry.  Ample time will be provided for students to ask questions.

Government's Interactions with the "Sin Industries:"  Alcohol, Gambling and Tobacco.  Monday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m.  Borgia Study Lounge/City Avenue Apartments.  Presented by Saint Joseph's University Donald L. MacLean, SJ Chair, Fr. Richard A. McGowan, SJ.  This Business Hall event will create discussion about the government's role in so-called "Sin Industries" as it applies to business and ethics.  A key question for the event:  Does government have the right to have a role in the regulations surrounding these industries, which have the ability to harm the public's health?  A secondary component of the event will be to showcase for Business Hall residents the place of business ethics in the business world and how ethics intersect with difficult business decisions.

Spring Registration and Advising Session.  Monday, October 1 at 5:30 p.m. (men's hall) and Tuesday, October 23 at 5:30 p.m. (women's hall).  LaFarge Lounge.  Presented by Maria Beazley, Director of the Haub School of Business Advising Center.  The time is near to be thinking about course registration for the spring semester, and as is annually the case, students have many questions and need much direction of how to move through this process.  Ms. Beazley will share her wisdom and experience with students, preparing them to be fully informed about registration and ready to select courses when the time comes in early November.

Dress to Impress:  New York Site Visit Preparation.  Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m.  LaFarge Lounge.  Presented by Matthew Brink and Kristin Wilson, Career Development Center.  Business Hall students will learn what to expect of their upcoming trip to New York City.  Topics will include:  proper business attire; networking and socializing; and how to formulate and pose thoughtful questions.  Students from the upperclassman Business Hall will attend to model appropriate dress and to share their experiences on how to interact well during visits to corporate sites.

Business Hall Trip to Manhattan.  Thursday, October 25.  All day.  The fall Business Hall visit to Manhattan will allow students the opportunity to visit one of two corporations:  Merrill Lynch (for accounting and finance majors) and Cline, Davis & Mann, Inc. (for marketing and pharmaceutical marketing majors).  Business Hall students will receive a rare inside glimpse into the work life at these corporations.  Chartered bus departs from campus at 7:00 a.m. and returns to campus between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.  Sign-ups for the trip will be managed by the Business Hall Resident Assistants.
