A native of Osaka, Japan, pianist Emi Kagawa is a soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, and Japan. She has won numerous national and international competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition at Juilliard and the Nancy Clark International Piano Competition. As co-director of MANI Brooklyn Chamber Music, she has participated in world premieres of contemporary composers, and is currently collaborating in numerous productions involving visual artists, filmmakers, and dancers. The New York Sun described her as “an artist both interesting and bold… [who] quite literally throws herself into her performances… [creating] truly exciting music.”
She currently teaches at St. Joseph’s University and Lehigh University.
