Mike Lyons joined Saint Joseph's University in 2009. His teaching and research focus on the uses of digital and networked media for civic engagement and community storytelling.

Mike was a journalist with the Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and newspapers in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, Alaska, the Caribbean and the United States before attending graduate school.

Mike lives in the Spruce Hill section of West Philadelphia.
