Courses Taught
Dr. Grimes regularly teaches Intermediate Italian I & II, Italian Conversation and Italian Composition. She also teaches a variety of upper-division courses on Medieval and Renaissance Italian culture, such as Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio: The Dawn of the Renaissance; The Medici Court: Poetry, Patronage and the Art of Power; Italian Journeys: from Marco Polo to Global Tourism; Italy through Art and The Artist and the Madman from the Renaissance to the Reformation.
Research
Dr. Grimes' teaching and research interests include:
- Italian literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance (in particular Petrarch)
- Interdisciplinary relations between literary and visual traditions
- The literature and history of travel
- The history of Italian cinema
