Martha Mercantini, Ph.D.

Martha Mercantini completed her undergraduate degree in English Literature at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Reading at the University of Miami, Florida; and a Ph. D. in Special Education at The State University of New York in Buffalo, New York. Her dissertation explored self regulation and transfer strategies used to improve students’ thinking and reasoning across constructs of secondary education. Her other scholarly interests include: teaching students with mild and high incidence disabilities at the secondary level, culturally responsive teaching methods, and generalization strategies. Before coming to Saint Joseph’s University, Dr. Mercantini taught English and was a special education teacher for ten years in a variety of middle and high schools.
