Prior to coming to Saint Joseph's in 2012, William Place was director of doctoral studies at The University of Dayton, where he taught research, school public relations and personnel courses. Dr. Place is a past member of the executive board of the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (2009-2012) and is a past president of the Mid-Western Educational Research Association. Prior to moving to the university level he was a teacher, full-time teacher association representative and administrator for more than 10 years.In 2000-02, Place reconnected with the field working as a high school principal.He has presented more than three dozen papers at national refereed conferences and has more than two dozen publications in some of the most prestigious journals in the field, as well as more than a dozen other publications including the published book Principals Who Dare to Care.
