Saint Joseph's University is located on the western border of Philadelphia, its campus residing in both the city and the suburb of Lower Merion. This unique location combines the best of dynamic Philadelphia with the residential setting of the elegant Main Line. Saint Joseph's 65-acre campus spans two counties, allowing students to enjoy the best of both worlds. The city is easily accessible, while the safety, serenity, and greenery of a suburban campus are right at hand.

Philadelphia

The city of Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the sixth most populous in the United States. The City of Brotherly Love was the nation's first capital and the birthplace of the country, beginning with the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. From the row homes of West Philadelphia to the towering skyscrapers in Center City and the stadiums of South Philly, the city today offers a wealth of historical, cultural, social and athletic attractions.

Lower Merion Township

Founded by Quakers in the late 1600s by Quakers, the township of Lower Merion is separated from Philadelphia by City Avenue. The area is home to communities named after station stops on the Main Line of the Pennsylvania Railroad, a railway that is now serviced by Septa's R5 train and Amtrak's Keystone Corridor. Along the township's main highway, Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30), the communities of Bryn Mawr and Ardmore offer students a plethora of dining, shopping and cultural opportunities.
