Research
My research area is inorganic biochemistry which is the study of the structure and function of metal ions in biological systems. In particular we study the oxygen sensing mechanism of the heme protein FixL that regulates nitrogen fixation in some plan. In addition we also have two collaborative projects on ion channels and the heme protein IDO which metabolizes trytophan and plays a role in certain types of cancers in humans.
