Biography
A native of New York, Jury Smith studied Visual Arts at the University of Arizona, Pennsylvania State University, Tyler School of Art of Temple University, and at Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute, China. Her reductive, earthenware clay sculptures are process-driven, and based on ideas relating density and buoyancy. Smith has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, at such places as The Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia), Jingdezhen University (China), The Clay Studio (Philadelphia), Artists Space (NYC), and Blutenweiss Gallery (Germany). She currently exhibits work at Tercera Gallery in Palo Alto, California.
Smith taught Ceramics in the Crafts Department at Tyler School of Art from 2002 until 2005. She now teaches Visual Art at Saint Joseph’s University with a focus on Ceramics.
