Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo
The SJU Jazz Ensemble is a twenty-piece group of student and faculty musicians performing works ranging from the Big Band Era to jazz-rock fusion. The Jazz Combo program offers students the opportunity to perform in small groups with an emphasis on jazz improvisation. The Jazz Ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:30p.m. in the Music Studio on the Maguire Campus. An audition is required. University Singers and Concert Choir
University Singers is a group comprised of students, faculty and staff. The ensemble rehearses once a week on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel. The choir performs two major concerts a year, and sings at other university and greater Philadelphia community events. The Concert Choir is an auditioned mixed choral ensemble of approximately twenty-four singers. The Concert Choir rehearses on Mondays from 8-9 p.m. in the Chapel and on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Boland Hall Music Room. All students with sufficient background in choral music are eligible to audition for a “Choral Scholars” Scholarship Award. These scholarship stipends are awarded on a semester basis. Cap and Bells Dramatic Arts Society
Cap and Bells Dramatic Arts Society was founded at Saint Joseph’s University in 1928 and is presently in its 81st season. It is the premiere theatre organization at Saint Joseph’s University which produces up to four shows each year including musicals and plays. Recent productions include Cabaret, Romeo and Juliet, Chicago, Diary of Anne Frank, and Sunday in the Park with George. Students from all majors are encouraged to audition for university productions or participate in technical production crews. The organization also supports students through an extensive scholarship program

Private Music Lessons: Voice or Piano
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers lessons for both majors and non-majors in vocal performance and piano study. All lessons are private and the student meets with the instructor once a week. There are typically twelve lessons per semester, with a studio recital and jury at the end of the semester. Voice Lessons
Learn to professionally train your singing voice through breath management, phrasing, diction, performance practice, and accurate musicianship. Each semester auditions are held for admission into one of the two voice studios at Saint Joseph's University. Students must prepare one piece memorized for the audition. Bring sheet music in the correct key to the audition. An accompanist will be provided.
