Welcome

Thank you for considering pursuing a degree at Saint Joseph’s University in the department of Health Services. We offer many opportunities to study in fields related to healthcare management or health promotion that leads to a Master of Science degree and/or a Post Master’s Certificate.

There has never been a more crucial and exciting time to pursue and further advanced careers in Health Administration than, now. Health care is a great industry for people who want job security: it's growing fast, it's in demand now, and people aren't going to stop needing it anytime soon. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), http://www.bls.gov, job opportunities for medical and health services administrators are expected to grow significantly faster than average for all occupations through 2014.

Our M.S. program is structured primarily for health care professionals with considerable experience in the health delivery system who are interested in the management and administrative aspects of health organizations and the health system. The M.S. curriculum presupposes no previous academic training in business. The curriculum is designed to provide the technical and behavioral competencies as defined by the Health Leadership Competency Model, Version 2 developed by the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL, 2005). We invite you to learn more about the SJU Master of Science and Post Master’s Certificate program. Our faculty and staff are here to help answer your questions and assist with the application process. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the SJU community. Each concentration has variations in emphasis based on the mission of the curriculum. Moreover, the methods for assessing assimilation of knowledge, skill, and behaviors is operationalized in different ways.
