Biography

Dr. Childs is an active researcher, teacher, consultant and advisor in the area of food and health. Her most recent research addresses food advertising and children, food labeling and health claims, health claims and product positioning strategies, consumer characteristics, market value impact of label regulation, and anti-obesity policy’s impact on the food industry and retailers. She is a Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics Research Fellow and has received each of the university’s Extraordinary Achievement Awards in Research, Teaching, Service and Advising. She’s participated in numerous public policy forums in the US and internationally including the National Academy of Science Food and Nutrition Board Food Forum, DHHS Secretary’s Obesity Roundtable, the FDA’s advisory committee on dietary supplement labeling, and the Plenary Session of the EU addressing health claims for food products. She was one of twelve business faculty nationally selected to attend the elite Keizai-Koho AACSB tour to Japan. She’s served as a member of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia Educational Institutions subcommittee.
