What is the advantage/difference between enrolling in the MSHRM program vs. an MBA with a concentration in human resources?
The MSHRM program is a specialized Master's program, with a focus on the professional field of human resources. This degree program is ideal for those who wish to distinguish themselves in the field and be aligned with the curricular guidelines recommended by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). The MBA degree has a more broad focus, offering only two courses in the field of H.R.
Is the MSHRM Program full-time or part-time?
The MSHRM Program is a part-time program designed for working professionals. Classes are conveniently offered at Saint Joseph’s University in the evening and on Saturdays.
As part-time students, MSHRM students can enroll in no more than 2 courses (6 credits) per term, and must take the core courses as prescribed in the Program Course Sequence.
Can I apply to complete the MSHRM program as a full-time student?
MSHRM students cannot enroll as full-time students, nor can they hold full-time student status or hold graduate assistantships. The MSHRM program will not be available to international students who must maintain full-time student status.
Where are classes held for the on-campus program?
Saint Joseph’s University is conveniently located at 5600 City Avenue in Philadelphia, PA. Classes are held in Mandeville Hall, a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center in which technology and comfort combine to create a one-of-a-kind educational experience. When can I start the program?
The MSHRM Core course sequence begins each Fall semester. Students enrolling in the Spring or Summer may enroll in elective courses before their first Fall semester (subject to prerequisites).
How much does the program cost?
Tuition for 2009 - 2010 academic year is $2,448 per course ($816 per credit).
What is the "tuition deferral" program and how does it work?
Students who receive tuition reimbursement from their employers may participate in our Employer Tuition Deferral Program. You will need to provide proof of employment, a copy of your company's reimbursement policy and a $35 non-refundable processing fee. Your company must agree to pay Saint Joseph's University directly within 30 days after the final day of the semester. This program saves the student from "fronting" the money and waiting for their tuition reimbursement check. More information can be found at hhttp://www.sju.edu/resources/studentservices/forms.html
What tests are required?
The MSHRM will accept either the MAT, GMAT, or GRE. These tests may be waived for those with an SPHR Certificate or an earned Masters Degreein business or a quantitative field from an accredited college or university. What are the professional backgrounds of students entering the program?
Our students are a combination of professionals seeking to deepen or supplement their skills in human resource management and leadership.
