The AOL Committee was established in 2003 and has developed over time to become the driving force for assessment in the HSB, fostering a culture of assessment and continuous improvement.
The AOL committee is composed of at least one faculty member from each department, and chaired by Dr. Ron Klimberg, Professor of DSS. In September of 2006, Dr. Klimberg assumed the newly created position of Director of AOL for the Haub School of Business. The committee:
- monitors and facilitates the development of program objectives, rubrics, metrics and methods for assessing student achievement for each learning goal
- disseminates to all appropriate stakeholders the direct and indirect assessment results
- assures that these results are utilized for continuous improvement
The AOL committee also serves as the central repository of all assessment results. A database was developed to store all direct measurement results, summarize the results and produce essential reports. Hard-copy summary reports are provided to each department to keep in a department AOL binder.

- Alumni surveys conducted and evaluated
- Shared survey results during Dinner meetings with stakeholders (students, alumni, employees, faculty, Department Chairs, staff and the Dean)—resulted in identifying the need to increase use of IT
- Fall 2001 Career Development Center took over the execution and evaluation of the Alumni surveys—as a result, significantly higher response rate

- First HSB AOL retreat—identified which learning goals are covered in required undergraduate business core courses and correspondingly developed rubrics and student outcomes to measure them.

- Two AOL all-day meetings (February meeting: departments presented past results; during the May meeting, the UG committee presented their assessment of the results thus far from the undergraduate program)
- Accounting and DSS departments participated in Departmental reviews

- All the learning objectives and matrices (objectives and courses) were completed for all programs
- Undergraduate leadership learning goal revised
- Three AOL committee members attended an AACSB Assessment Seminar. One of our major discoveries was that the minimum requirement for an objective is that it is measure in one course.
- Spring 2008-- development of an AOL database started. The database would store all reports and produce reports
- University Undergraduate Curriculum revised and finalized. HSB was intimately involved in identifying requirements for business students.
