Advocate for Student Concerns

As Student Ombudsperson, the Director of Student Success serves as an advocate for student concerns. Problems may arise in a number of different areas and it is important that these problems be handled in a direct, expeditious, and friendly manner.

The Ombudsperson...

  • Acts as a source of information on University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in identifying and evaluating options for resolving and managing conflicts and providing help in pursuing those options.
  • Refers students to appropriate persons in order to resolve problems.
  • Acts as a facilitator or mediator between students and other members of the university community when requested.
  • Ensures fair and equitable treatment to the student community.

What happens when you go to the Ombudsperson Office?

The Ombudsperson will provide a safe, comfortable and confidential environment for you to discuss your concerns. The Ombudsperson will help you develop strategies and options for resolving your issues, as well as provide information to you regarding University policies and procedures. The Ombudsperson is committed to providing and maintaining confidentiality for those persons using the services. The concerns and issues discussed with the Ombudsperson remain in strict confidence.
