Is SJU
for you?
It just might
be if ...
You're not content to sit on the sidelines
You put 100 percent into everything you do (since 110 percent just isn't humanly possible)
You're not afraid to put your ideas out there- or to actively seek out the ideas of others
You love getting absorbed in a great book, a fascinating conversation, an important project or whatever it is that you're doing
You won't let a question rest until you've tracked down the answer
Your mind is quick, your commitment is strong and your enthusiasm is high

What are your next steps toward becoming a Hawk?
Your sophomore and junior years of high school are a perfect time to prepare for SJU. After all, if you’re not a spectator, it’s never too early to get in the game! The following tips should help.
- Make sure you’re enrolled in challenging, college-preparatory classes. SJU requires 4 years of English, 3 years of math (including algebra 1 & 2 and geometry), 2 years of a foreign language, 1 year of history and 2 years of natural science.
- At the beginning of the school year, create a calendar with important dates and deadlines. These might include standardized test dates and registration deadlines, or campus visit events you want to attend.
- Get in the “not-for-spectator” spirit: Pursue the extracurricular, leadership and service opportunities that interest you most.

- To increase your familiarity of and comfort with standardized testing, consider taking the PSAT or PLAN (also known as the pre-ACT). Talk with your guidance counselor about registration and test dates, and about test locations. In the winter or spring of your junior year, consider taking the ACT or SAT.
- Start or continue saving for college.
- Come to Philly for a campus visit! We offer a number of visit events and opportunities. (Don’t forget to bring a list of questions. This is a perfect chance to gather the information you most want.)
- Make the most of your summer breaks. Plow through a great reading list. Seek a summer job or internship. Volunteer for a cause you’re passionate about.
