As a "Saint Joseph's Fund Associate," you would reach alumni, parents, and friends of the University via our automated, web-based database and dialing systems, updating them on events here on campus, asking for updates and that they participate in giving to The Saint Joseph's Fund. You would also spend some or all of a given shift assisting in processing pledge confirmations and reminders to be mailed.
Our major focus is alumni giving. You want your Saint Joe's degree to help you get a job, right? Well, SJU's ranking in US News and World Report and other rankings is impacted by alumni participation in annual giving. It's not how much someone gives; it's whether they give or not.
Typical gifts are around $100. You'll get $10, $25, $500, even $1,000, depending on the person's giving history and other factors.
This is the best paying job on campus. Last year, SJ Fund Associates averaged $8.50 per hour. Pay is a combination of hourly base and bonuses reflecting how you've performed with a given group you are calling on a given shift. We'll look at how many credit cards you've secured that shift, how many people you've contacted, and more.
Next year we will have a senior helping us manage this program, and so we'll begin a new tradition of promotion from within. This means that if you work hard you may find yourself in a management role.
This is indeed a fun job - but an EXTREMELY important one - indeed the most important job a student can have on campus. We're serious about hiring smart, self-motivated, energetic and engaging Hawks who are ready to make a special mark on their university.
