NOTES
- For undecided students considering either biology or environmental science as their major, note that FOR THE FIRST TWO SEMESTERS THE COURSES ARE THE SAME. Students may consider their decision during their freshman year and enter ENV SCI courses in their sophmore year. We suggest you do declare BIO or ENV SCI as your major as you enter SJU so that as a freshman you are enrolled for this early course sequence. You can switch to the other later if you decide on that.
- This is a typical program. Students normally take the science requirements in the order shown. The PHL, SOC SCI, THE, ENG, HIS, ART/LIT and ELECTIVES may be swapped to take in different semesters than shown, as the student works out a suitable schedule during pre-registration with the course times offered that term.
- SOC SCI = Economics, Politics, Sociology or Psychology
THE = theology PHL = philosophy HIS= history ENG= English
- Foreign Languages available include Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and Portugese. If entered at the beginning level a three course sequence is required (the third will use one elective).
- If pre-calculus is taken in Freshman year, Calculus can be taken the next Spring and Fall. The pre-calculus counts as an elective.
- BIO 1011, 1021, and 1031 are prerequisites for all BIO ELECTIVES. BIO 1011 is offered in Fall. Students starting a env sci major after the first semester will take BIO 1011 the next fall to start the bio sequence.
- Dr. McRobert (there is no "s" at the end of this!) is the Director of the Environmental Science program and advisor for env sci majors.
