In order to understand some of the plant characteristics that have
appeared on our tour, the following vocabulary list may be helpful.
Homosporous- spores produced by the plant are the same
Heterosporous- spores are divided into large megaspores which
eventually develop into famale bodies, and microspores which
Gametophyte- phase in the life cycle of a plant that gives rise to
Sporophyte- phase in the life cycle that produces spores
Photosynthetic- characteristic of a plant in which the plant uses the
sun’s energy to make glucose
