Dan Walmsley started working with Ustilago
as an outgrowth of a successful project in the Molecular Genetics course.
When that project wound down, Dan became the 2-D gel expert in the lab.
He is looking at differences in protein expression in cells that are exposed
to pheromone, compared to cells not stimulated. He has found some interesting
changes in protein expression as a response to pheromone. His work
was been presented at NCUR and at the Sigma Xi Symposium. Dan received
the first Anna K. Hillman Summer Research Internship in 2000, and he has also
been supported by the NSF. Dan started medical school at the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic medicine in the fall of 2001.
