Welcome to the Ustilago Page

We are interested in how the corn smut fungus grows, responds to environmental stimuli, and interacts with host plants.  For more information about the kind of work going on in the lab, you can follow the links below to look at publications, presentations, and descriptions of student projects.
Most students working in the Ustilago maydis lab are undergraduates doing research for credit (during the school year) or on a paid fellowship (in the summer).  Students who have worked in the summer were paid from several sources, as noted in the descriptions of their work.  Several M.S students have also done U. maydis projects.  Students interested in working on U. maydis, either as part of a master's thesis or for undergraduate course credit, should contact Dr. Snetselaar or Dr.McCann.
