Kristin's Krusade benefits the Kristin Mitchell Foundation, which supports educational efforts that raise awareness among college students about the potential dangers of unhealthy dating relationships. Kristin Mitchell was a victim of dating violence who lost her life only weeks after graduating from Saint Joseph's University.

How we die in America today has been forged over the past 40 or so years. A “fragile consensus” exists about the ethical, legal, and medical rightness of forgoing life-sustaining treatment at the end of life. But is this consensus beginning to erode due to influences from within society and the Church? And what might this mean for how Americans and Catholics approach end-of-life decision making in the future, and for how we die?

Take part in this two-mile fun run supporting the Summer Immersion Programs. If you don't want to walk or run, find a student to sponsor. The money helps them pay for their air travel to Guatemala, Ecuador, Mexico and New Mexico this summer. The dedication will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of basketball at Saint Joseph's.

Last year Theresa participated in an act of peaceful civil disobedience at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (formerly known as the School of the Americas). She has served with Colorado Campus Compact for the past ten years engaging faculty, staff and students in service and community. This lecture is part of a series of events remembering the 20th anniversary of the University of Central America Jesuit community martyrs.

Robert Weinberg, graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the New York Restaurant School, is co-owner and Tour Director of City Food Tours in Philadelphia. Mr. Weinberg will lead a lecture on the history and making of chocolate. The lecture includes a tasting.

Dr. Lee T. Pearcy, recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Classics, has published extensively on ancient medicine and on modern receptions of the classics. He will draw on both these areas to discuss the depiction of poisoning and poisoners in Robert Graves' influential and best-selling novels "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God" and in the BBC television series based on them. He will examine this depiction in the light of what can be known about poisons and the people who used them in ancient Rome. Poison will turn out to be not merely a handy mode of murder, but a cultural practice at the intersection of magic and medicine.
