Associate Professor
Air Force ROTC
Biography
Lieutenant Colonel David J. Pohlen is the Commander of Detachment 750 and the instructor for the AS200 class.
Lt Col Pohlen graduated from the AFROTC program at the University of Notre Dame. Initially he joined for the monetary benefits but the lifestyle of being an Air Force officer kept him in the service. Lt Col Pohlen studied developmental engineering and worked in testing and evaluation of space and missiles in California before moving to space research in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His seventeen-year career has included a stint as a range safety officer at Nellis AFB, Nevada (his favorite assignment).
As far as advice for cadets, Lt Col Pohlen counsels that they "always work hard; don't sell yourself or the job you are doing short. Even if you don't like your job and think the Air Force doesn't like you, put your best effort into everything and you will reap the benefits in the future. If you show the effort, you will get the jobs you want."
