Father Stephen Fields, S.J., is the Donald I. MacLean, S.J., Chair holder for the Fall 2006 semester in the Department of Theology. He is teaching “Christian Mysticism,” a third level Theology course.
Father Fields received his undergraduate degree in English with a Philosophy minor from Loyola College (Maryland), his M.A. in English from Oxford University, and his M.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University. He earned his M. Div. and S.T.L. at Weston School of Theology and his M.A., M. Phil, and Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion from Yale University.
Father Fields is currently Associate Professor of Theology at Georgetown University. He is the author of Being As Symbol: On the Origins and Development of Karl Rahner’s Metaphysics as well as over a dozen chapters in books, book reviews, and articles, most recently “Rahner and the Symbolism of Language” (Philosophy and Theology) and “Newman’s Challenge to the Contemporary Academy” (Christian Higher Education: A Journal of Applied Research and Practice).
