Literature Archives
An enormous amount of literature has currently been put on line, much of which comes to us through The Guttenberg Project. Why would anyone want to read a novel on line? Well, usually we don't. But for those who have trouble finding quotes or character references while writing essays for English class, that "find" command on netscape or in Word can come in handy. (Don't expect to find any recent novels though. Most twentieth century works are still protected by copyright.)

Post-modern Mayhem
Hold on to your beret and sunglasses. The following sites explore contemporary--and mostly experimental--writing. Many of the sites take advantage of the internet as a medium for making use of sound and image as well as the "written word".

The Electronic Poetry Center -- Site for backgrounds on and samples of respected contemporary poets.
UBU Web -- Early 20th century and contemporary concrete poetry, sound poetry, and other forms that make use of the internets multi-media possibilities.
Eastgate Systems -- Sells hypertext poetry, fiction and non-fiction on CD-Rom, but also includes full length samples, links to other hypertexts on the web, and a collection of essays
