Dr. Grimes regularly teaches First-Year Italian, Second-Year Italian, and Italian Conversation and Composition. She also teaches a variety of upper-division courses on Medieval and Renaissance Italian literature, such as Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio: The Dawn of the Renaissance; The Medici Court: Poetry, Patronage and the Art of Power; Italian Journeys: from Marco Polo to Global Tourism; and The Artist and the Madman from the Renaissance to the Reformation.

Dr. Grimes's teaching and research interests include:

  • Italian literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance (in particular Petrarch)
  • Interdisciplinary relations between literary and visual traditions
  • The literature and history of travel
  • The history of Italian cinema
