Dr. Donahue advises all French majors beyond their first year and all European Studies majors.
Dr. Donahue teaches French language courses, including Second-Year French, French Conversation and Composition, and Advanced Composition and Stylistics. He alternates with Drs. Burr and Daniel covering Selections in French Literature. His upper-division courses include French 20th Century Theater, French Surrealism, French Essay, Practical French Theater, The Age of Louis XIV, the French Novel and, on occasion, French Poetry.
His teaching and research interests include the following:
- 20th Century French Theater, especially the Theater of the Absurd
- Le Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier: Jacques Copeau, Louis Jouvet and Suzanne Bing
- The Theater of Fernando Arrabal
- Theater Semiotics
- The use of the mask in the theater
- The Theater of Bernard-Marie Koltès
