The Major and Minor in Spanish

The Major in Spanish
     The Spanish major requires taking SPA 1311-1321 (Conversation & Composition I and II) and eight courses at the 2000 level including:

  • at least one of SPA 2011-2021
  • one course in Latin American literature or culture
  • one course in Peninsular literature or culture
  • one course in Spanish linguistics

The Minor in Spanish
     The Spanish minor requires completing six courses at the 1300 level and higher. For additional information, contact Dr. Jennifer Ewald.

There is also a proficiency assessment in the form of an oral interview of all Spanish majors and minors during their final semester.

Students in Spanish may also wish to pursue a minor or certificate in Latin American Studies.
