International Relations is a degree program that offers the student a truly interdisciplinary course of studies.  The major concentration emphasizes political science, modern history, and international economics.  International Relations majors often enhance the interdisciplinary nature of their studies by taking a minor concentration in political science, history, economics, business, or modern language; by spending a semester or longer at a foreign university; and/or by participating in the Washington Internship Program.

Students majoring in International Relations acquire valuable skills in communication and analysis, independent judgment, appreciation of different societies and cultures, and knowledge of world affairs and trends, all of which are critical in the increasingly global environment of today and tomorrow.

International Relations is a major rooted in the Jesuit tradition of liberal arts, especially suited to those whose orientation may be toward graduate or legal studies, government service, international business, communications, and education.

Requirements for the bachelor’s degree in International Relations include the successful completion of ten upper-division courses chosen by the student from among the more than fifty courses currently available in the International Relations Program. Examples of these courses include: Asian Economies; The Craft of Intelligence; East Asian Civilizations; History of Modern Mexico; History of Russia Since 1881; International Economics; Multinational Corporations and World Order; Politics of East Central Europe; US Foreign Policy; The Viet Nam Wars.

Our office is located in Barbelin Hall, Room 105.
