Curriculum

International Relations courses are categorized as either Area and Comparative Studies or Global Studies courses and come from 3 different disciplines - economics, history, and political science. To satisfy the major requirements, students must take:

3 courses from the Area and Comparative Studies category
3 courses from the Global Studies category
4 more courses (these can be from either category)

Of these 10 "category classes", at least 3 must be from Political Science, 1 from History, and 1 from Economics. For instance, POL 2611 Theories of International Relations counts as a Global Studies course AND a Political Science class. All major classes have both a category and disciplinary designation. Category classifications are indicated in the catalog and web site, and the discipline is evident from its course number - e.g. POL xxxx is a Political Science class, HIS xxxx is a History course, and ECN xxxx is an Economics class.
