The Academic Program in Latin American Studies
| The Certificate in Latin American Studies: This option requires nine courses, at least four of which must be language courses. Five additional courses with a Latin American focus may be chosen from a variety of disciplines. Most students who opt for the Certificate are Spanish majors or minors.
The Minor in Latin American Studies: The option is similar to other minors at St. Joseph's and requires six courses from a variety of disciplines. The minor was designed primarily for students who are not language majors or minors. |

The Latin American Studies Program confers the following awards: The Ignacio Ellacuría, S.J., Award is conferred each year in the fall to acknowledge an outstanding project in Latin American Studies concluded during the previous academic year. The Sullivan Award in Latin American Studies is conferred at commencement each year to acknowledge outstanding overall performance by a graduating senior in the program. |
