Bio

Research Areas
Ethics in business and management, especially the pharmaceutical industry; decision modeling to evaluate R&D efficiency and portfolio optimization

Current Projects
Assessing ethics in the pharmaceutical industry by analyzing the top-five US newspaper front-page articles and editorials; Determining how well pharmaceutical companies manage ethical issues using a survey of pharmaceutical employees (work with S. Porth on both); Applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process to determine optimal performance of pharmaceutical compounds (work with K. Hogan); Evaluating the effectiveness and ethical soundness of performance appraisal systems (work with S. Givens-Skeaton)

Academic Positions Held
Saint Joseph’s University: 2004-present as full-time faculty member; adjunct professor since 1997; taught every semester at SJU and guest lectured at numerous other institutions

Professional Experience
Worked for the healthcare industry from 1973 - 2004 and held various positions from salesman to CEO which included selling products, conducting research and introducing several new medical/pharmaceutical businesses into global markets. Additionally, developed/managed pharmaeconomic studies to support the pricing and sale of several products. Attained favorable reimbursement coverage determinations and coding for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and drug-device combination products with international and U.S. authorities, such as Medicare. Scientific advisor for the Daemion Counseling Center since 1996, helping to provide healthcare to those who cannot afford to pay for it and was a member of other boards of directors.
