  What is SAP? 
   SAP (pronounced S-A-P) is emerging as a worldwide standard in the software applications
   that automate and link critical business processes, such as accounting, billing, human resource
   management, logistics, material management, purchasing and manufacturing control. The 
   company, which started in 1972 in Mannheim, Germany, has expanded into a worldwide  
   presence, controlling  one-third of the $5.2 billion client-server enterprise applications business.
   They are the industry leader in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. 

   SAP offers the following products
   1. SAP R/2 - mainframe based 
   2. SAP R/3 - client/server based 
   3. R/3 version 4.0 - object-oriented upgrade


   SAP provides a real-time database update for integrated applications. It supports organizations
   with multiple companies in different locations, and is suitable to a wide range of industries and
   organizations.
