Students
WELCOME!!!
A TOTAL EDUCATION -THE CO-OP EXPERIENCE The co-op program is available to all undergraduate business students majoring in Accounting, Decision and System Sciences, Finance, Management, International Business, Marketing and Pharmaceutical Marketing. The Food Marketing department administers a separate program for their students. Students must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average and have earned 30 credit hours in order to be eligible to be placed for a work experience. Co-op affords students the opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with practical on-the-job experience. Students who participate in the co-op program obtain one year of paid work experience without extending their graduation date beyond the traditional four years.
You can earn a competitive salary and gain valuable work experience while still in school. A sophomore co-op can earn between $10.00 and $17.00 an hour depending on the specific major and the company hiring the students. The average pay increases for the second co-op term.
The full year of work is incorporated into the study schedule by utilizing the summer months. This enables
co-op students to graduate with their non-co-op classmates. The advantage is the co-op student graduates with one year of practical work experience. The program integrates a rotation of school and employment terms that enables the cooperative education student to complement his or her formal classroom training with additional technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and financial remuneration. The co-op graduate possesses the maturity and assurance of a more seasoned employee and the ability to incorporate academic knowledge and theory into practice.
Please call or visit the Co-op office as soon as possible. We're located in Mandeville Hall, Room 289, 2nd Floor, and our number is (610) 660-1934.
