Other Information:
We use a microwave backbone in combination with ATM/SONET
North Carolina Information Highway (NCIH) connections. All NC-REN
sites can do dial-up conferencing via the CLI codecs located at
the Network Operations Center at MCNC. There are over 65 other
NCIH sites across the state that we can connect with (including
community colleges, hospitals, high schools). MCNC is also the hub
of the HPCC Video Collaboratory which includes Cornell Theory
Center, Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, National Science
Foundation, San Diego Super Computing Center and the National
Center for Supcomputing Applications.
