Center for International Programs (CIP) – I-20 and Visa Information

The Center for International Programs is available to advise and assist all current and prospective international students with employment related and immigration issues.

All graduate international students who require an I-20 must send proof of ability to pay for the first year of educational expenses to the Center for International Programs. For more information, contact the Center for International Programs at cip@sju.edu or call (610)660-1835

Graduate Housing

Saint Joseph’s University does not offer housing for graduate students. However, graduate students can find local apartments or rooms –most students share an apartment with other SJU students. The Off-Campus Housing Office maintains a list of area apartments available to students. Their website also has helpful information on signing a rental agreement, handling disputes with your landlord, finding furnishing, and utility companies for water, gas, electricity, telephone service and cable TV.  If you are looking for off-campus housing within a short distance from Saint Joseph’s University, you can find additional of information by clicking here.

Health Insurance

All international students (F-1 or J-1 visa holders) are required to enroll or waive the university sponsored health plan.  In order to complete the waiver/enrollment process, please go to www.firststudent.com, select Saint Joseph's University from the drop down menu then select the Enroll/Waive Insurance link and follow the directions. 

Once the process is complete, do not forget to print out a receipt for your records.   If you have questions or require further information, please contact the Student Health Center at 610-660-1175 or the Center for International Programs at 610-660-3496.

Information for Accepted International Students

Please view our new student enrollment checklist. In addition to the items on this checklist, accepted international students are required to follow all the specified steps with the Center for International Programs to make sure that they in compliance with all U.S. Immigration laws.
