Saint Joseph's University has long recognized the importance of integrating computer skills into the educational experience. Many of your courses will require a significant amount of computing, and the faculty is integrating computing into courses more and more each year. A number of your courses may require that you have access to the computer during course time. In addition, you will want to use computers outside of the classroom for electronic mail, writing papers, spreadsheet, data analyses, laboratory reports, on-line library resources, on-line registration, and accessing the Internet. It is clear that a significant portion of your time, both inside and outside of class, will require computer access, as computers are an integral part of the learning and academic culture of the university. Having a laptop computer will greatly enhance your ability to meet the challenges of academic life on campus.

College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)

All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Psychology and Interdisciplinary Health Services majors are automatically enrolled in the CAS Laptop Computer Program. Before the first day of classes, students in these majors will be required to purchase an Apple iBook that meets the minimum system requirements of the CAS Laptop Program. This computer will come bundled with MS Office for Mac X and Norton Anti-Virus Software. SPSS Graduate Pack v. 11 can be purchased at the SJU Bookstore. Haub School of Business (HSB)

All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in any major in the Business School, including Undecided Business, are automatically enrolled in the HSB Laptop Computer Program. Each student will be required to purchase an "SJU edition" laptop computer from IBM before the first day of classes. This laptop computer will come fully customized for the University network and bundled with the necessary software used in coursework. The Laptop Computer Support Office provides technical support via walk-in, phone, web, and email for students participating in the CAS and HSB Laptop Computer Programs.
