Dr. Hamermesh is the Sue Killam Professor in the Foundations of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin and the author of Economics is Everywhere and Beauty Pays. He is known for his work on labor demand, the economics of time use and applications of economics to a wide range of daily life applications such as "workaholism," "time to eat," "time stress," "sleep," "social norms," and "beauty." Dr. Hamermesh also contributes to the New York Times Freakonomics Blog.
