Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University

The Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University (ACESJU), is an innovative  two-year service program that provides recent college graduates the opportunity to serve as full-time teachers and administrators in under-resourced Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Diocese of Camden while pursuing a master’s degree at either St. Joseph’s University or Villanova University. To prepare these highly motivated educators, ACESJU provides an intensive service experience encompassing four programmatic pillars: education, community, spirituality, and simple living.

ACESJU is modeled after the University of Notre Dame’s successful Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program and revitalizes quality urban Catholic education by providing a steady infusion of highly-trained educators.  In June 2015, the program proudly welcomed its fifth cohort of 13 fellows who represent a diverse and talented group of young adults.

Saint Joseph’s University teaches students to think critically, pursue social justice, and find God in all things. SJU faculty and staff are dedicated to the ongoing development and support of urban educators in this mission. SJU education degrees offer certification in the following:

  • PreK – 4
  • Middle Years (4-8)
  • Secondary (7-12)
  • Reading Specialist
  • Special Education

Administrative fellows receive a M.S. in Church Management from Villanova University. In addition, each fellow earns a leadership certificate from the Fox Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
