Department of Mathematics

Math Alumni

St. Joseph's graduates hold many different positions in commerce, industry, government, education, and law. They have worked in industries from GE Aerospace division to Mars candy bars. They are teachers in elementary and secondary schools, as well as large universities. They pursue careers as operations research specialists, actuaries, business managers, lawyers and computer scientists among others. This diversity is made possible by the nature of mathematics itself and the flexibility of the curriculum at St. Joseph's, which allows mathematics majors to minor in almost any other field that interests them. Some career choices, for example University teaching and research, require advanced degrees. St. Joseph's graduates have gone on to attain advanced degrees at institutions such as Yale, Harvard, U. of Illinois, U. of Virginia, UCLA, U. of Pennsylvania, U. of Michigan, Duke and many others.
