Health Professions Advising

Affiliated Programs with Thomas Jefferson University

Saint Joseph’s University has partnered with Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Health Professions in Philadelphia to offer students the opportunity to prepare for health professional careers in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Bioscience Technologies, and Radiologic Sciences.  Under this agreement, students pursue coursework for a degree in either Biology or Interdisciplinary Health Services at Saint Joseph’s and also complete the prerequisite coursework for the professional program at Jefferson.  Students spend three years at Saint Joseph’s before moving to Jefferson for their professional training.  The number of years at Jefferson and the degree earned there varies according to the specific Jefferson program.

Depending upon the student’s specific area of interest, there are different application procedures to follow so prospective students are urged to consult with Sabriya McWilliams (smcwilli@sju.edu) in the Saint Joseph’s Admissions Office to be sure they understand the eligibility and admissions procedures for these programs.  Current SJU students should consult with the Health Professions Advisor, Mrs. Connie O’Hara (ohara@sju.edu) for information about these affiliation programs.

The following programs require that prospective college students apply to both Saint Joseph’s and Thomas Jefferson with two separate applications in order to be considered for dual admission.  The Jefferson application can be accessed at the Jefferson website  and here is the Saint Joseph’s application. Please click on the program below for more detailed information.

The following programs require that prospective students apply only to Saint Joseph’s via the SJU application or the Common App, however they must do so by November 15 of their senior year in high school and indicate on the application that they wish to be considered for the dual program with Jefferson.  Note that high school seniors must meet the GPA and SAT requirements to be considered for one of the limited number of seats in these programs.  Qualified students may also apply for a predetermined seat in the MSOT or DPT program at the end of their freshman year at Saint Joseph’s.  For more detailed information, use the links below.
