BIO 164 Introductory Pharmacology (3 credits)
This course will provide an overview of key topics in applied pharmaceutical sciences including drug nomenclature; classification and categorization; rudimentary elements of structure-function relationships; principles of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion; structure and function of the human body to understand the mechanism of action drugs; the drug discovery process. The course is taught with application to current issues in use of medicines in society

Successful completion of this course satisfies one of the Natural Science requirements in the GER/GEP for Pharmaceutical Marketing majors only, and will serve as a free-elective for all other majors.Open to Pharmaceutical Marketing Majors only or by permission of the chair.
