HIS 210 Historical Introduction to Sub-Saharan Africa (3 Credit)

This course will examine the social, political, and economic history of sub-Saharan Africa from pre-colonial times to the twentieth century. It will emphasize themes such as the early formation of states and empires, the impact of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the European colonization of the continent, and the struggles and successes of modern African nation states. The curse is designed to provide the students with a background for understanding the most important forces that have shaped Africa and continue to affect the lives of people throughout the continent.
