SOC 313 Data Analysis (3 credits)

This course introduces students to the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for conducting quatitative data analysis.  Using the General Social Survey and other publicly available data sets, we will learn about transforming variables, conducting univariate and bivariate analysis, requesting descriptive and inferential statistics, and learning how to interpret these statistics.  Emphasis is on doing the analysis and presenting the analysis for research projects.  This course is a prerequesite for Research Seminar, SOC 495.
