SOC 334 African-American Experience (3 credits)

This highly interactive seminar is designed to critically challenge the minds of our students about the contributions, history and social influences of African-Americans in the United States. This course will explore such areas as the social/economic/cultural transitions of African-Americans since 1960s to present. We will also examine campus-wide diversity initiatives, the portrayal of African-Americans in the media, current racial profiling practices, in addition to barriers we have about talking/dealing about the issue of race in America. Criminal Justice elective. Satisfies Diversity GEP.
