What is the Academy of Food Marketing?
The Academy is an administrative unit of Saint Joseph 's University. It was established to recruit and aid students for careers in the food and allied industry.

Is it on Saint Joseph 's campus?
Yes. The offices of the Academy Of Food Marketing are housed in Mandeville Hall.

Is there a separate application and is it harder to gain admission to the food marketing major?
No, the Academy does not process any admission applications to Saint Joseph 's University. The Office of Admissions reviews all applicants to the University including food marketing applicants and makes the final decision on admission to Saint Joseph 's. You should contact the Office of Admissions for information on standards of admission.

What makes Food Marketing so special?
The Academy of Food Marketing offers to its students a placement program, summer work and internship experiences, a five-year co-operative education program (optional), and scholarship funding. Additionally, students have the use of their own library resource, the Campbell Collection, which houses food industry information including company profiles and research materials. It is one of the largest food marketing collections in the East.

Graduates may pursue careers in retail, wholesale and broker sales of food and related products; market research; retail and food service management; buyer and analyst positions within food companies.

What does the food marketing curriculum cover?
The curriculum incorporates manufacturing, procurement, advertising, research, sales and distribution.

Is it too specialized as a course of study?
Students receive a thorough introduction to business practices through the Common Body of Knowledge courses required of all business majors within the Haub School of Business as well as specialized learning in the food industry.

What kind of employment outlook is there for graduates of the food marketing program? What companies hire your graduates?

How do I apply for scholarships specific to food marketing majors?
To be considered for a food marketing scholarship, applicants need to be admitted as a new freshman to Saint Joseph 's University, declare a major in Food Marketing on their admission application, and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The priority deadline to submit the FAFSA is February 15.

The review of food marketing applicants will begin in March. This review will emphasize financial need based on the FAFSA and consider the applicant's academic record.
