Saint Joseph’s MBA Graduate Merit Scholarship

The Erivan K. Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph's University awards merit scholarships each semester to outstanding students applying to the Professional MBA Program. Qualified candidates demonstrate remarkable achievement in their undergraduate years and possess superior GMAT scores.

The Merit Scholar designation recognizes students as members of an elite group within the MBA Program and allows them access to a range of exciting opportunities. Some of the advantages of belonging to this esteemed group include special networking opportunities and lectures by noteworthy guest speakers. During the Fall Semester there will be an official induction ceremony where recipients will be honored with a Merit Scholar Certificate.

Who is eligible for the Graduate Merit Scholarship?
All part-time and full-time applicants are eligible for the Graduate Merit Scholarship. This includes applicants who receive tuition reimbursement from their employer. Eligible students will be contacted by the Graduate Business Staff during the application process. Students will then be asked to submit a complete application including information about any other scholarships or tuition remission they may receive. Awardees will be notified by an official letter indicating award amounts. All those who apply to the SJU MBA Program will automatically be considered for eligibility and contacted accordingly.

How much is the scholarship worth?
Award amounts vary, and are typically between $2,000 - $4,000 for the students first academic year. Scholarships are for one year only.

What standards much a Merit Scholar meet to maintain his/her award?
Merit Scholars must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the MBA Program to retain their award.

How long does the scholarship last?
The Graduate Merit scholarship remains in effect for one academic year. At this time scholarships are not eligible for renewal.

If I receive tuition reimbursement from my employer, how can the scholarship benefit me?
The scholarship amount would be credited to your tuition account after the funds from other sources, such as your employer, have been exhausted. Students who receive 100% reimburse from their employers, but qualify for the program, will still be considered Merit Scholars and will receive a Certificate at an Awards Ceremony and be eligible to attend several special events each year.

If I do not receive tuition reimbursement from my employer, are there additional financial benefits for me?
If you do not receive tuition reimbursement from your current employer or a financial scholarship from another source, you could be considered eligible by the Merit Scholar Committee for some financial assistance, which would be applied at the start of the academic year.

If I’m not awarded a Merit Scholarship, are there other sources of tuition assistance?

How is the scholarship distributed throughout the academic year?
The total amount of the award is divided evenly between Fall and Spring Semesters, so that you receive half of the amount designated during the Fall Semester and half during the Spring Semester.
