Saint Joseph’s University’s College of Professional and Liberal Studies is excited to welcome transfer students from other two- and four-year colleges and universities. We invite you to meet with an SJU admissions representative by attending an upcoming information session, Transfer Thursdays or setting up a personal appointment to discuss your transfer credit and to design the right program for your goals and needs. For more information please call 610.660.1267.
Additional Information on transfer process:
If you are applying to one of our degree or certificate programs with transfer credit from another college or university, you must request an official transcript(s) from each college or university you attended. If you have less than 30 transferable credits, your official high school or GED transcript will also be required. Only grades of C or better will be transferred. A maximum of 75 credits (25 courses) may be transferred to the baccalaureate degree in the CPLS. Students in a baccalaureate degree program are required to take a minimum of fifteen courses in the CPLS, including at least four upper division courses in their major. The CPLS has developed articulation agreements with many local community colleges to facilitate the transfer process. Students may transfer up to ten courses towards an Associate Degree. Ten courses must be completed at Saint Joseph’s University. Business majors must take at least half of their Business core/concentration courses at Saint Joseph’s University. Some business courses may need to be reviewed by specific academic departments for evaluation of transfer credit.
Transfer of credit procedure for students in CPLS
Students interested in attaining transfer credit into the College of Professional and Liberal Studies at Saint Joseph’s University from coursework previously taken at an accredited institution will initially meet with the Director of Admissions for enrollment eligibility. At this time a preliminary review of previous coursework will take place and the student will be given an initial cumulative record sheet of credits eligible for transfer into Saint Joseph’s University. Once admitted and registered for classes, the student’s initial cumulative record sheet will be sent to the registrar’s office for official advance standing.
The CPLS will allow a maximum of seventy-five (75) transferable credits into a baccalaureate degree.
International students must provide official transcript(s) from each high school and university previously attended, translated into English, and a course-by-course evaluation from an approved international credential evaluation service must be submitted. Please see the section on International Students for further information.
