Martin Luther King, Jr.

(Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking at Alumni Memorial Field house on October 26, 1967.)

The memory and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. remains alive at Saint Joseph's University. On October 26, 1967, Dr. King addressed 3,400 students, faculty and community members who gathered to hear his words in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. That event is commemorated with a bronze plaque in the lobby of our famed gynmasium.

Since 2002, Saint Joseph's University has been pleased to host and serve as a major co-sponsor of the Annual "Day On, Not A Day Off" celebration featuring noted radio personality, Rev. Louise Williams, and a cavalcade of gospel signers, dancers and performers.  The event is free and open to the public and attracts more than 4,000 people who celebrate in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse on the anniversary of the federal King holiday.
